  DOUZ

Douz is referred to as the 'gateway to the Sahara' and is an excellent place to experience the desert sand dunes either on a camel or by 4WD. An evening folklore show and dinner can be arranged under Bedouin tents. Douz is also the departure point for Sahara "cruises" on camelback. These trips, up to a week in length, are known locally as "Journées Chamelières".

Douz weekly market, on Thursdays, is also a worthwhile attraction not to miss. Just remember to arrange your visit as early as possible as everything will have been wrapped up by 11 AM.
