Makthar (Mactaris) :
The city is perched at over 1100 meters in altitude and some winter snow occasionally falls there. Maktar was founded by the Numedians, but mostly destroyed by the Banu Hilal tribe in the 10th century. Many Roman and history archeological remains still exist in the mountaintops on the other side of the modern city of Mactaris (Makthar) .
